Treatment of periodontal diseases: periodontitis, periodontosis, gum recession

Treatment of periodontosis (periodontitis)

A successful treatment of periodontosis (periodontitis) can only be attained, if a number of clinical and radiological examinations are carried out beforehand. Thus the exact nature of the disease can be identified. From then on dental hygiene has to be the top priority. The patient is trained to thoroughly clean his teeth. This is supplemented by regular professional dental care treatments. The aim of this procedure is to save those teeth affected by periodontosis.

Plastic surgical treatment

In the case of advanced periodontitis, these conventional treatments are insufficient and have to be combined with periodontal surgical measures. With the help of plastic periodontal surgery the affected teeth, the jaw bone, and the soft tissue can all be preserved: deeply rooted inflammations can be treated, the root surfaces cleaned, bones remodelled, bone defects corrected, and healthy gums restored.

For the treatment of various periodontal diseases (e.g. gum recession, deep periodontal pockets, exposed root surfaces) we have developed special microsurgical treatments that guarantee long lasting effects.

Plastic periodontal surgery in the case of impants

If the treatment includes the placement of implants, such plastic periodontal measures can be necessary to improve the quality of the gums and increase the overall aesthetic appearance of the affected area. As with natural teeth, plastic periodontal surgery can become crucial in the case of periimplantitis (inflammation of the adjacent soft tissue).
