FAQ: Is the removal of drooping eyelids and tear sacks painful under local anaesthesia?

The occurrence of pain inflicted by the injection of a local anaesthetic largely depends on the technique, which is to say, how fast and where the injection is administered. Experience shows that, especially in the case of eyelid corrections, most patients tolerate the local anaesthetic very well. There are actually a number of people who claim that they did not feel anything at all. In many cases a consultation with the surgeon before the operation can clarify this point.

FAQ: Why is eyelid surgery recommendable?

The first signs of the aging process show in the face and especially around the eyes. Since our eyes play a vital role in all communication, these signs have a detrimental effect on our private and professional lives. Eyelid surgery helps to create a younger and fresher look. In the case of excess skin, the visual field is additionally increased through this operation.

FAQ: How is eyelid surgery carried out?

When dealing with the upper eyelid, surgeons follow the natural skin lines for the incision. The incision on the lower eyelid is made just underneath the eyelashes. In some cases we alternatively create an invisible access point through an incision in the conjuntiva of the eye in the lower lid. Surgery is generally carried out on an outpatient basis and under local anaesthesia. Stitches are usually removed four days after the operation.
