Course of the Operation

In most cases, breast reductions are carried out under general anaesthesia. In a previous consultation the exact procedure is explained to you and adapted according to your wishes and the necessities of the individual case. All incisions are kept as short and hidden as possible. Even when wearing a bikini top they should remain invisible. 

If necessary, the nipples are surgically relocated and resized to fit in with the new shape. During breast reductions glandular tissue is usually removed as well. Depending on the situation, a breast lift can be performed at the same time or later combined with a breast enlargement. After the operation a dressing and elastic bandage is applied for a day. For the next twelve weeks, day and night, you are required to wear a sports bra or special medical bra one size smaller than before. Generally, we use self-dissolving stitches which are naturally absorbed by the body and thus do not have to be removed. You should not do sports for one and a half months, but you can go back to work after a week.
